Leave a copy on server

I have a new Exchange server with OST, as well as some POP accounts
that use a PST. I can easily tell the POP accounts to leave the mail
on the server but have found no way to tell the Exchange account the
same.

How can I mix this?

I want to receive the POP accounts into the PST inbox. I run Outlook
on multiple computers so I have backup copies of those messages in
case of hardware failure (or theft). I have added an Exchange account
(since the company now has Exchange), and enabled the OST file to keep
a local copy. I'd much prefer to leave the Exchange inbox messages on
the server (once again, always keep a backup).

I am using Outlook 2003 with Exchange Server 2003 (SBS). How can I
have the POP mail go to a PST and the Exchange mail to NOT go to a
PST?

I am doing this exact same thing. What I have done is
set-up a rule to move the POP mail to the PST when it
comes in. Give it a try.....

Actually, it already works that way. What I want is for the Exchange
mail to NOT go to the PST...

I think you need to change the Mail Delivery to Mailbox from pst.

Thanks, Rifleman, I appreciate the help as I'm trying to make up for
(what seems to be) skimpy documentation.

But, (catch 22), all the POP mail now goes to the Exchange server?

Isn't it possible to have POP mail go one place (PST) and Exchange
mail another (OST)?

Not without using rules to move incoming messages or creating separate
profiles for the POP and Exchange accounts.

Thanks, Jocelyn,

That's a bit of a pain but I can probably make it work.
Biggest problem is that network traffic triples for the POP account:

read meail from POP server
store on Exchange server
read back from Exchange server, store in PST

That'll be a bigger problem when I'm using a dialup (which currently
isn't very often).

Any chance of requesting a future enhancement to improve on this?

Feel free to pass along your concerns and suggestions to Microsoft at
(e-mail address removed) (put Outlook in the subject line). Microsoft does read
the e-mails sent to these addresses, and the more users requesting a certain
feature, the more likely it will be implemented in the future.
