Plustek Optic Film 7200. $189 at TigerDirect.

For 35 mm only.

Claims 7200 dpi, I'll believe 3600.

Check recent threads on this group for
further discussion and links, or google
on it.

Seen test. The dpi isn't a problem. The DMax (which is what counts)
is.

Or if you want really cheap, a used Nikon LS-30 (though only 1/2 the ppi of
the LS-40) on eBay - should be priced around $50 +/-

Thanks for the reply! What is "ICE"?

More properly digital ICE, or dICE.

ICE uses IR (infrared) light, within
the scanner's optical system, to
identify dust and scratches on the
film surface. With that information,
software "repairs" the affected
defects with minimal or no impact on
the rest of the image.

True ICE needs specific hardware
support in the scanner; it cannot
be implemented by software post-
processing.

Folks who've used it (including
myself) generally find it
indispensable.
