Microsoft has posted a "new" critical update on Windows Update.
It is identified as 823980, at 1.2 Megabytes. I've installed this on
two different systems. The install seems to proceed normally, but on
reboot a new Windows Update session indicates the update is still
required. Has anyone else noticed this behavior.

Possible solutions:

1 - Delete or rename the folder c:\windows\system32\catroot2

Then do the updates again.

2 - Start/stop the auto-update service.

Start, control panel, administrative tools, services, right click automatic
updates, click stop. Right click again, click start.
