Last resort before computer goes out the window

With programms not starting, cpu runnng at 100% & all sorts of other
problems, i thought it would be better just to format & start again. I've
managed to get all my files off onto disc, only problem now is (just to add
to the problems) shorty after i did this i put my restore disc into format,
only to find that my dvd rom had stopped working (it takes the discs but
won't read them) so i can't use my restore disc to format. Thing is though,
now if i format will i be able to reinstall xp. Think my computer dos'nt like
me any more.
Please help, cos the window is open :-)

What does that have to do with anything? The drive isn't able to read the discs anymore.


Mark does it not read ANY discs anymore? What program did you use? It may have corrupted the drive's drivers. If so, you could
fix it, but if you're having a bunch of other problems anyway, you may as well reinstall.
