I've tried it on excess of 50 computers now that have frozen on the windows Xp splash scree and this option never works infact is it even woth doing it .

Anyone have any successful stories of using this option,,,,

Hi

Yes LKGC does work. Why are you trying it on 50+ computers? Are all those
PCs in need of that option?

By this do you mean System Restore? If so I have just this minute used it.
I had been unable to connect to Internet. Don't know what had changed but I
restore to a date 48 hrs earlier and all is well

When a Laptop hangs and fails to boot into windows even in safe mode , it is frozen on the blue windows xp screen before the logon screen

After this has happened I have chosen "last known good configuration" the system has stated there is a corrupted registry file and replaced it

After this windows will still not boot and Im left with it hanging on the same windows xp screen

Im not talking about system restore Im talking about an advanced boot menu choice "last known good configuration that worked

As far as Im concerned it never works and is a waste of time bring back scanreg /restore.

Duncan;
LNGC works very well, but like everything else is not 100%.
If you have 50 computers that need it at the same time, I would start
looking at the cause.
Since the cause may be similar it should be no surprise when something
fails on one it may fail on other computers.

LNGC is only one of the layered protections with System Restore, your
own back-ups etc.

Not really.
Various things can interfere with system Restore.
Applications that cause excessive hard drive activity are a major
cause.
Real Player has been associated with loss of Restore Points.

If you are sure you would not use system Restore, you may want to
consider turning it off to save resources.

Hello thanks for your comment I work in IT support for a major
laptop supplier and me and my work mates have used this in many
different situations.
We have all decided that it never works and have practically given
up hope of it ever working so will probably just stop using it
altogether.

Sorry, forget my last post.
The mention a few times of SR got me off track.

LKGC is still pretty good, but whatever is causing the original issue
could have an impact on LKGC.
Whether it is flawed or not is difficult to know for certain.
All I can say is consider it another tool before reloading.
But it does not really hurt to try even for a slim chance.

Ok lets clarify Im am talking about "last known good configuration "
from the advanced boot menu not system restore,
I like system restore = good

I dislike "last known good conf= bad as it does not work I think its flawed.

Most the time these laptop wont boot into normal mode the wont start
in safe mode or safe mode witth command promtp so system restore is
out.
