I have a problem not met before. A friend (?) was using excel on my computer
and when I next went to use it the size of some elements had changed. The
cells and edit strip and the font size had all increased several times -
real size, not apparent. This is NOT the zoom feature as the size of the
font set is now 28. If you use Ctrl and wheel to reduce this then 12pt is
too small to read. It is also not the accessibility view as the standard
tool bar buttons etc are normal size. I think he probably turned an excel
feature on with a keyboard short cut but how?? This problem is only in excel
not any other office application. I have even tried an uninstall/reinstall.

Any ideas anyone

Hi Pip!

Try:
Tools > Options > General
Change the font size.
Close Excel
Re-Open Excel

thanks for the thought, but it is not the font size that's the problem, it's
the cell/view size. The proportion of the size of cell to font has somehow
been changed. If I print a sheet with font size 12 the cells are about 1 X 8
cm each. If reduce the cell size, I have still got the issue with the giant
formulas toolbar. I guess you would just have to see it to believe it!

thanks anyway

Hi Pip!

Take a look at:

Start > Control Panel > Display > Appearance

I can't think which of the various elements might have been changed in
a way that won't affect other programs but you might check all for
unusually large font sizes or settings at the upper end of allowable
ranges.
