just wondering which you'd choose and why. 1000+ machines, lots of
different hardware, 90% of it has built in XP driver support (the ones that
don't are NIC and graphics chipsets). wiping out the current OS and
starting from scratch with a set of specific applications.

I'm very familiar with PE, but have never used riprep.

take a look at distirbution point setup. especially if
you are installation applications as well.

you can have setup partition the machine as youd like,
install windows, and then execute any number of
applications that you want to install.

check out a great site about it here -->

carey, you virtually never provide useful information anymore with your bevy
of cut and paste links. most of us in these groups are already familiar
with searching microsoft's technet and website. are you actually still
trying to help people or are you just working to hang on to your MVP status?
i'm looking for opinions from people who are familiar with the tools, not
pages and pages of microsoft marketing, whitepapers and technical documents
on the subject. i can find that on my own in my stacks of msdn, opk,
select, technet and action pack cds.

thanks jeff, i frequent msfn.org as well, you're right, great site.
