large mpg files

I have some large mpg files that I thought could be copy
to a DVD disc(4.7 gig). When I copy the files to the
drive it does not see the 4.7 disc as burnable.
Has anyone accomplished this task and if so how?

XP's built in recording software can only handly CD-R's and CD-RW's. To
record DVD-R's or RW's you will need to use 4rd party software such as Nero
or Roxio EZCD.

You need to install the DVD burning software that came with the drive. You
of course need a DVD burner with the right type of disc for your burner
(DVD -R or DVD +R).
You cannot burn a DVD in a CD Burner.
