Hi,

I am a laptop (samsung v20) user with XP (sp2) and use
wireless networking on the odd occasion. Having
installed the wifi equipment on the laptop (USB device) I
have noticed that when I use the laptop on battery only
the battry drains in about half the normal time.
Thinking it was the USB Device I removed that and the
same thing happens. Taking a look in the task manager I
notice that the following process is constantly using the
CPU, WLANCFG4.EXE. Could this be the process that is
draining the battery so quickly, anyone have the same
experience?

Thanks

Ian

All I know is that the WLANCFG4.EXE process is running to
support NETGEAR. It is a configuration process for that
mfg. Cannot see why that would be draining your
battery...
Just a thought..

well i am running the same thing... i dont have the device pluged in an
its still running and is using about 10% processor speed... more th
processor more the battery life being used?. so my only suggestion i
to end the process if your not using the device.
