Here's one for the real whiz. I am not on a network, just my home computer.
When trying to start my laptop running XP Home, at the Welcome screen, my
account and the guest account both come up with the Logon Message-Can't logon
to this system interactively. Reboot going into F8 Safe mode, brings up the
administrator account. Same Thing. Reboot with system disc to do a repair.
Still same problem. Any suggestions?

I'm not the wiz and I have a question... What do you mean by "Reboot with
system disc to do a repair?" If you didn't do a repair install then you
might be able to use "Last Known Good Configuration" from Windows Advanced
Options Menu (F8.) If that doesn't work and you can access the recovery
console you might be able to restore your sam and security hives for the
registry (see the the last message in the following thread but replace
"winnt" with "windows"
http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9670 ) and further, you
can also parallel a windows installation
