Hi, I didn't know where this belongs, but I'm kind of on a tight schedule
here.

I have a laptop, and it's been acting strange lately. Well, you know the
thing you plug into it to charge it? Well, I plugged it in and it isn't
charging..like, the thing you plug in isn't working. I tried tightening it,
and I re-plugged it in again, and it still doesn't work.

Anyone know what's going on and how I could possibly fix it before 38 min,
because by then the battery will run out..

The outlet works fine where it is plugged in. Please..I need help! Thank you..

Shut it down and take it to a laptop place where they can
check it out.

Sorry for the double post but I seriously need help here.. It says I only
have 31 minutes!! :(

If it won't charge the system when it is plugged into the wall outlet and
also into the port on the laptop, you must take it to a service shop that
can diagnose the problem.

If the charge block (the block between the two cords) has an indicator light
on it that will tell you only one thing, power is or isn't getting to the
block. It won't tell you whether the charging circuit in the computer is
working. That is for a technician to find out if it is or isn't working and
why.

The majority of these laptop PSUs give out nineteen volts at 3.5 to 4 Amps.
It may tell you the voltage and current-rating on it. A check with a
voltmeter should tell if it's working. If it's not, then you may be able to
buy a generic replacement. Exception is Dells which are special types.

If using a generic replacement be very careful to get the polarity right;
reverse polarity will destroy the laptop.

Although the PSU might be repairable, for safety reasons this is a job for
an expert.

Thanks, guys.
My brother thinks it's the battery that isn't working. I'm taking it over to
the repair shop to get the problem situated.

Thanks for all your help!

Glad it is going to the repair shop. Even if the battery was dead and
beyond any charging hope, the laptop should still turn on with the shore
power attached through the charger. I fear that the problem lies elsewhere
than the battery. You may try to turn on the system with the battery
removed and the charger plugged in. Most times you have to use it this way
while using airplane power outlets so it should work if the brick and power
circuits work but the battery was causing the problem.
