I am new to owning a laptop...and an older one at that...but for what I use
it for...it's cool. My question is...the mouse/pointer executes (opens a
file) as soon as I scroll over something...many times way before I know
exactly what I want. I have tried to slow the pointer down...but that only
slows the pointer down...not the file opening. Is there a fix to this...or
am I doing something wrong?

laptop mousepads are
slighty different than reg
mouses.

you likely can buy a cheap
usb mouse and plug it into
your new laptop.

i prefer my the regular
mouse over the mousie pad...

Try setting the mouse to the double-click to open something. It sounds
like you have it set on single-click, which is often difficult in Windows.

The option is in the Folder Options applet (Control Panel) on the
General tab.

In Control Panel, mouse, for the X-mouse setting and disable it.
