Laptop chrashes when installing XP updates

Hi

I'm hoping someone might be able to point me in the right directions.

Hi

I have a laptop that recently suffered a major virus infestation and
firewall switched off. I now have all of that sorted out. However,
now when the system tries to update itself it crashes with the blue
screen of death.


It seems to download the updates but only fails while installing them.


Has anyone else suffered this ?
Did you fix it ?
If yes - How ?

Usually there is a BSOD error msg, which can help in diagnstics
