If I close the monitor to my laptop does it shutoff the monitor and leave the
computer running? It is a Dell Inspiron 8200.

Hi Linda,

The manual for the 8200 *does not* specify whether the machines still
running or not. IF NOT, the only way to shut down your computer is to log
off Windows first, then select "shutdown", and after a period of time it
will tell you it's safe to shut off your computer, or it will automatically
shut off the power switch.

Do you know what RTFM means?

Right click on the desktop and select properties. Start by selecting the
screen saver tab and then the power button. Now look at the advanced
tab and you will find what you want under power buttons.
