("?") display. They are over the input, send, draft, recyler, send button,
and etc... Can one please tell me how to fix this? Thanks.

Hi,

I guess you'd need to set Fonts in Tools/Options/Read either to Unicode or
Chinese Font, and optionally, also set International Settings in the same
page to use the default setting you have just changed for all incoming
messages.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I tried and still doesn't work.

Ok, that beats me :(

Normally, if it's "???" it means it is not decoded as opposed to other types
of random characters (sorry can't reproduce here) which means not decoded
properly.

Can you ask the sender try to send a message using Unicode (UTF-8) and see
how it works.

Also can you read and/or write Chinese with any other applications under XP?

My understanding is this - For English (or Latine language in general)
version of XP to support Asian languages, you need language pack which is
available only to volume license customers, and I am lucky because our
company does have several language packs.

But I later learned that it might work out for some email messages if using
Unicode, so that's why I ask you to have the sender using Unicode, and if
that doesn't work out, you'd probably need a language pack.

Good luck.

In fact, ??? is what I am getting in the menu, button and etc... The weird
thing is the below message I can read some Chinese. I think it only happend
on the menu, button and etc... The content is OK. I tried to open up the
word and excel and even ie and the Chinese charatacter can be displayed
normally.
