have a small lan @ home everything's runnin various vers of xp, they see ea
other but i cant map drv's. sp2 disables something, what am i missing? a
service,port,etc
thanks
(e-mail address removed)

yeah shared em and created a usr w/admin and a passwrd (wont let ya use null
pswrds anymore, even tried the c$ share, which should work always w/admin priv

because by design sp2 shuts down specific ports and svc's to tighten
security for the avg joe

Either learn how to enable the specific ports in Windows Firewall, or turn
it off and install another third party firewall that you know how to
properly configure?

Dear sir,
i dont run windows firewall at all, 2nd reguarding my post, i am a frigging
quadraplegic, thats why, you try typing with a chopstick and your mouth, i
have seen post's with grammer and spelling mistakes and general stupidity
that make my post look like a thesus for a phd, at least it was legible. and
just how much difference is there between a chatroom and a newsgroup?

i hope your ego can stand lowering yourself to my insuffecient standards

i use zone alarm, and as long as you include the local area lan with a range
of ip address's it has never been a problem, i have networked and shared
servers with the same firewall (again zonealarm) with no prob

i never have nor will i ever use windows firewall, i use zonealarm, have for
years, and am fully versed in how to configure it, i would bet it is a
service rather than a port, as i said before ,sp2 by design shuts down
specific services and ports to tighten security for the average joe who knows
nothing of ports and services let alone protocols

thanks for the help, but i am not running a domain, nor is there a dc
anywhere in the lan, and again it is a lan and your link is about vpn and
dc's and a domain, thanks but just does not apply to my situation
