label size for Desktop icons

I previously asked if anyone knew a setting that would
allow the full text label to be shown on Desktop icons.
Presently, people have only been able to suggest renaming
the icon, but I know there is a setting where the label
can size to the length of the text string. Does anyone
know where this setting is?

I have a slight worry that this option is only available
if you choose the Windows Classic style in the display
properties for the Desktop, rather than the XP theme (I'm
using XP).

Once again, any help appreciated.

Stu

Nope, that's not the issue. There's a lot of space
between the icons.

Thanks for trying,
Stu

have you tried to move your icons? if they are slightly
to close the icon auto displays part instead of full. all
my icons with longer text are partial until i move them
apart a bit further.

Answered to your earlier post. Please wait a day before posting
questions a second time - people are all around the world, and it may be
24 or more hours before your query is seen. But to repeat:

You have to provide more space between icons.

Control Panel - Display - Appearance. Click Advanced and in the Item
box select 'Horizontal Icon spacing, increase it. The space available
is the icon size, plus this. You can also increase vertical spacing,
but will not see more than two lines (unless you highlight the icon).
You can also select icon itself and make the font used smaller. Note
that all this will also affect icons in an Explorer or My Computer
window.
