Certain keys when pressed do not type the message on that
key. For example if I want to get the @ symbol I have to
type shift and number 2 if I try and type @ by using that
key I get " instead.

If I try and get the the pound sign I get # instead.

Can anyone help me?

it is probally best to get a new keyboard, or does this
occur with every keyboard you try?

Try Control Panel, Regional and language Options to set the desired
Local for the keyboard.

Looks to me like your computer has been configured for a different region
keyboard. US ones have @ above 2 i.e. SHIFT+2 will produce @ whereas on a
computer configured for a UK keyboard it will produce another symbol or
ASCII character.

If your keyboard consistently "mistypes" then this IS where you have gone
wrong. NO keyboard will produce the characters printed on the keys unless it
is configured in the software for the right "country".

Try Start>Settings>Control Panel>Keyboard and set the correct COUNTRY for
your own particular keyboard.

Please note that your keyboard can even print odd alphabets IF configured
for that particular country. In that case unless you buy a special keyboard
for that language, you will just have to guess what characters you are
keying in. Your Rs will be reduced to gobbledegook BUT persistently so. PUN
INTENDED !!!
