Press Tab until a folder in the Folder List (in the Navigation Pane)
highlights, use the up arrow key to select the root of your folders, then
press Enter.

Thanks Brian, I was hoping there was one key stroke to do it but I
guess Outlook doesn't have any custom keyboard shortcuts like Word.
I figured out another multiple key stroke way which works pretty well:
Crtl Y to get folders
Alt with up or down arrow to select Outlook Today folder
Enter
Ed
