Keyboard related problem

My computer has suddenly decided not to recognize my hitting the same key
twice in quick succesion. Any key. Any application. I have to pause
between typing any double letter for example, or backspacing twice.

Is there some timing setting somewhere that has somehow been changed?

Does this happen with a different keyboard?

Hi JohnD,

Try going to Control Panel and double-click on the Keyboard icon.

Click on the Speed tab in the Keyboard Properties dialog box.

Adjust the 'Repeat delay' slider more toward the 'Short' side and move the
'Repeat rate' slider close to the 'Fast' setting.

See if this helps.

Yes. And after posting the question I discovered that it was happening on
all the workstations on the network and also with a friend's computer.

Since rebooting following Windows Updates it isn't happening any more.
