Keyboard Registry Error

Hello,

Under the the Hardware tab in Device Manager, it shows an error for the
Keyboard. I have a Dell Inspiron running Windows XP Home SP2. Specifically
it states that the registry is corrupt for this.

I have tried uninstallaing and reinstalling. When it reinstalls, it has the
same error.

I have tried to do a System Restore back to the furthest available, but that
does nothing.

I have tried loading Symantic's Utitlities and it is unable to do anything.

I have run Ad Aware by Lavasoft, SpyBot and Norton Antivirus, and everything
appears good to go.

The keyboard does work when I go to DOS after a restore, before any Windows
drivers have loaded (ie, can edit the Bios, etc.)

Do I need to do a complete reinstall because the keyboard doesn't work or is
there something else I can try before resorting to that drastic measure?

Suggestions are welcome. Thank you,

Mark

Uninstalling and reinstalling what?

The bad value is coming from somewhere else.

That is not DOS. The registry only comes into play after Windows has been
loaded.

Find the bad value in the registry and fix it?

Hi Jim,

When I try to uninstall and reinstall the Keyboard in Device Manager.

I'm not up to speed on what the registry should like for the Keyboard. How
would I go about that? I can tell you that the only thing I know how to do
with the registry is to type in Run: Regedit. From there I can view the
Registry, but I have no clue what I'm looking at or what I would be looking
for. Any suggestions?
