I am trying to help a friend who while in her e-mail held
down her shift key too long and a diaglog box came up.
Now when she types there are no characters coming up on
the screen. Can you help? This happens in her e-mail and
word.

She might have moved into the "disability" mode. AFAIR,
pressing a shift key three times in rapid succession will
move the keyboard out of this mode.

Alternatively, if she has a rather heavy touch, she might
have broken the keyboard. Tell her to try a different keyboard.

Thank you - I will give that a try.

.

i had issues with my laptop keyboard...certain keys became
increasingly difficult to use & to add to the problem,
the letters on several of the keys had worn off[ an
infamous issue with dell smart step models ] .

anyway, i went out & bought an external keyboard [ P2
connection, probably where your friend's keyboard is
hooked up ]...it cost all of $10 & works great...i even
got some additional keys that laptop keyboards don't
have...it's plug & play, easy to use...if the shift key
solution mentioned in one of the replies doesn't work,
I'd just buy a new keyboard...depending on the bells &
whistles you're looking for, they expand a very wide
price range...
