Hello everyone.
I run several word processing programs and under XP pro have developed an
issue which seems simple yet really aggreates. The keyboard "stalls" or
there is a slow response when typing. The cursor is following my keystrokes
when writing a document then stops and a second or two later plays "catch up"
with my thought proacesses. I only type at about 60 wpm. This blows my
concentration right away. Any ideas would be greatly appreacted.
I run an acer 4061 with 1.6 Ghz. 1 Gig ram and 80 Gig HD. 128 meg video
memory. This has happend in Open Office and Corel WordPerfect.

See what else is running in the background.

How to Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig Utility in Windows XP -

Make sure the computer is clean:

If you don't use it, make sure Speech Recognition is turned off. You can
turn this feature off by going to the Add/Remove Programs applet in
Control Panel. Click on the entry for MS Office and then on "Change".
Browse to "Office Shared Features," "Alternative User Input," and make
Speech and Handwriting Recognition (both) "Not available" from the
drop-down box.

Well I checked that out.
No voice software is runningor installed.
I checked the processes in MSconfig. All seems fine there.
I think it's related to the word processing software.
So I must look further,
Thanks

It is unlikely to be connected to the word processing software since you
say it happens in three completely different programs. Therefore, it is
something you have running in the background. Since you say all is fine
and we can't see your computer from here, I don't see how else we can
help you.

If you think of a way, please do post back. In the meantime, good luck.
