Keyboard and Mouse not recognized after auto update.

Has anyone experienced a problem with your PC not seeing
the mouse and keyboard after performing and auto update on
your OS. I have 2 machines, 1 a Dell with Win2k, and 1 HP
Vectra VL8 with WinNT 4.0 WS that stopped recognizing both
the keyboard and mouse after the update.
 
I have almost the same problem. If I move the mouse too
fast or try to move it off the screen, my computer polls
the USB buss which causes the mouse to disappear for for a
few seconds. If I continue to move the mouse, it will
disappear completely until I reboot. This problem started
after installing the latest auto update.
