Subject: Keyboard and mouse freezes in DOS

Hi,

I have a pc with WINXP HOME
i installed a dos applic. on it.

if i start the dos shell, the appl. does not get input from keyboard and
mouse. the keyboard freezes some how.
i can go back to wondows with ALT+TAB. Here the keyboard works fine. but in
dos session it just won't work.

i have 6 other pc's in a network with the same dos appl. and wxp home. they
all work fine.

i have had this problem for a year ago to, then i found an artikel which
told me to delete a specific (systemmfile?) file from windows directory.
it resolved the problem. But i don't know which file it was anymore, and i
can't find the item no more on th iunternet.

can someone tell me how i can solve the problem?

I am seeing issues with this in new builds (i865G chipset motherboard,
processors above 2GHz) in Win98 DOS mode. Factors seem to include DOS
Shell and Emm386.exe, but are variable - I think it's a speed thing.
I have a pc with WINXP HOME
i installed a dos applic. on it.

What DOS application?
if i start the dos shell,

Do you mean:
- DOS Shell (DOSShell.exe)?
- a Cmd.exe window?
- a Command.com window?
- running the DOS app directly?
- running aa DOS mode instead of Windows XP Home?
the appl. does not get input from keyboard and
mouse. the keyboard freezes some how.

OK, so it's not DOS mode instead of XP.
Here the keyboard works fine. but in
dos session it just won't work.

is it a USB keyboard?
i have 6 other pc's in a network with the same dos appl. and wxp home. they
all work fine.

These 6 PCs; in what ways do they differ (speed, keyboard interface
etc.)? What DOS app is it, anyway?
