I know it is my fault but still I hate to waste the money that I paid for XP
Pro. Everything was running fine and then trouble began. My XP partially
disappeared from the HD. I formated the drive and reload XP No problem. A
few days later the computer started giving me blue screens with a message to
restart my computer. Never could start XP. I formated the drive and reloaded
XP and this happened once or twice more. Being particular dense, it was that
long before it dawned on me that the drive was dying. I replaced the drive
with a brand new one.

Followed the mfgrs instructions but I could not get XP to install. WD
replaced the hard drive and I got a new one and XP installed until it asked
for the Key and said this Key will no longer work. I called Microsoft and
the support guy said I will give you another key but it will only work one
time.

The computer is a two hard drive computer with Win2000 Pro. Out of the blue
one morning when I turned on W2K and I was told that I had to enter the
Administrators Password I tried all the old ways to get past it but it was
impossible. I never had an administrator's password. I had no idea what to
do. Got on several forums and followed one suggestion to use XP to go into
W2K and search for a password. Not there and I could not find the place to
enter a new password.

I tried another suggestion and W2K loaded into XP destroying my XP
installation and really messed up the hard drive. I got it straightened out
by formating it using a WD program. Of course I cannot re-install XP Pro
without a new key and from what the last support person said that was the
last one I would get. I really feel cheated as I paid for the use XP Pro
which has only been on this computer since I built it but now I cannot use
it. What a waste of money. Now I guess I will upgrade w2k to XP Home but it
leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I will put Linux on the other drive and
start learning a new OS. Mostly I needed to vent. Thanks for listening.

If you have a valid "retail" copy of Windows XP, just call the number again.
You will be activated. There is no limit to the number of times you may do
so.

Thanks, I did not realize that I could call and get another key for my valid
copy. That is great news.
