Key translation minus to a plus

My OS is XP Pro, SP3. My keyboard is translating the hyphen or dash - into
a plus + in Excel, Word and Outlook. Changed KB drivers, got a new KB to no
avail. Not so fun when using Excel. It is not happening in Outlook
Express. BIOS reflashed, Scanned all drives with Norton and other Malware
scanners. Is there a translation table I am missing somewhere? Or is this
a bug related to SP3? Assistance would be appreciated.
 
The solution was not an issue with WindowsXP but rather in Office 2003 and a
translation table found under the Tools menu in Word, then AutoCorrect and
found a minus - being replaced with a plus + in the table, Replace text as
you type. Fixed by changing a minus - to a minus - and not the plus as
found. Unknown how the table line got created. Hopefully this may help
someone else with a similar issue. Also found additional detail at
