Is it possible to create a key combination to open a
certain folder I have created?

For example, if my address for the file is C:\Documents
and Settings\John Hopkinson\My Documents\portfolio

and I would like to use the key combination CTRL+J+H to
trigger the opening of this folder, how is this done?

By the way, I am on XP Pro.

Thanks!!

Create a shortcut to the folder. Right click the shortcut and select
Properties. Under the Shortcut Tab you will see a box called "Shortcut key"
Position you cursor in this box and press the "J" or the "H". You will see a
key combo like Ctrl+Alt+H. click Apply and you can then press that Key combo
to open your folder.

There are third party alternatives if you want more control over the key
combo you create. Winkey is one such program

If you go to the help and support center under the start button and type in hotkeys you will see an entire step by step article on how to do what you want. The help and support center is always the best place to start. Then read read read. {:~)

Make a shortcut to it by right dragging it to the desktop, take 'Create
Shortcut'. Now r-click on this (and rename to taste) and take
Properties. enter a Shortkey combination in the pane provided. If you
type in a single letter the combination will come out as CTL-ALT and the
letter; if your keyboard has an AltGr key , right of the space bar ,you
can use that rather than the CTL-ALT. Once you have checked it is
working, you can drag the shortcut up to the Start button and park it in
'All Programs'
You can't use a two letter combo like your suggested CTL-J-H though
