Recently was given a two yr old dell without an
operating system..Went out and purchased window XP home
edition. Was recently given a second computer also about
two yrs old, wanted to install XP on that one. The
installation took but said it was only good for 30 days.
Both computers are in the same house. Why cant I use a
program that cost me 200 dollars on a second computer? I
was told I need a new Key Code. IS this possible? And how
can I obtain one?

You will need to purchase an additional license--one license per PC is
required, the same as it has always been. The difference is that it is
enforced in Windows XP by product activation.

Hey I bought a new Ford Red Mustang for $40,000 and I am
the only driver. Can you beleive that Ford will not give
give me another Red Mustang for free. I only want to drive
it on Sundays. It is for the same household and I am the
only driver. Ford what a crappy company you are just like
MS.

If you bought dell then you bought an OS with it. Dell only sell computers with an OS and MS license the OS to that computer. While the seller can sell just the computer they lose all rights to the software. So they can sell the software with that particular computer or sell the computer and throw away the software.

Adrianne,

I don't have the best news for you on this issue. You will need a separate
copy for each computer.

Because Microsoft has always provided WIndows under license, for one
copy to be used on one computer and only one at any time. ANd the
Product activation system is there to bring your attention to the
point.
