Kernel32.dll IE error.

Whenever I try to access the Windows Update webpage, and
error occurs while loading the page and says:

"iexplore has cause an error in KERNEL32.DLL. iexplore
will now close. If you continue to experience problems,
try restarting your computer."

I am using Windows ME and Internet Explorer.
