I was 84% done installing the drivers and software for my new X-Fi sound card
when I got that same kernel error. I restarted the installation and it
worked. Should I change my memory or update my BIOS?

Not sure I understand. You got "that same kernel error? Same as what?
Also if it's working now why would you think you need to change memory or
the BIOS?

Sorry, I thought was adding this message as a comment on my "kernel errors"
post. The "same kernel error" is KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR. What I meant by
"should I change my memory or upgrade my BIOS" is what should I do to prevent
future occurences of this. I seem to get a stop error (sometimes with a blue
screen, sometimes not) everytime I install a program. I installed Media
Player 11 yesterday, after the program told me to restart Windows, Windows
"did not load successfully". Is this a fault in my OS or is it related to the
KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR's that I am getting?

Ok, what you should do is quote at least part of the message to which you
respond. Many people use a newsreader to access what is actually a Usenet
newsgroup, not the clunky web interface. We just download the recent
messages so we don't see the previous messages in the thread.

Unfortunately I can't really advise you on what to do with your issue. Here
is a link with some basic info on BSOD STOP error messages.

Look in event viewer in all the logs for any error or warnings that might
shed some light on the problem. Have you run a diagnostic utility on the
hard drive? Get it from the hard drive manufacturer's web site.

Is the system clean of malware?

I ran the WD diadgnostics, it came back clean. I use Spybot S&D to scan for
malware/adware weekly.

I'm not saying you have malware but one non viral anti-malware program is
not sufficient. What about scanning for viruses? And you need several non
viral anti-malware programs. No single program does it all.

: I use Windows defender for malware/adware also. I use AVG
free 7.5 for anti-virus. AOL safety and security center does do it all, but
it doesn't do a good job.
Since I updated my BIOS, I haven't had any problems with
KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERRORs lately. Thanks for your help.
