Hi Kelly, it's Jeremy. You answered my question about the
virus that destroyed my C:\WINDOWS\system32\explorer.exe
file. Anyway, I've followed your instructions to fix it.
I copied regedit.exe over to My Documents and renamed it
regedit.com, I downloaded the .reg files you specified
and added them to the registry but now I'm too afraid to
turn off my computer. I went to C:\WINDOWS\system32\ but
explorer.exe still isn't there. What exactly did I do
when I followed your instructions? Is it ok to turn off
my computer? What exactly did that explorer.exe program
do? Thank you very much for taking the time to help me. I
deeply appreciate it.

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

You still haven't answered my reply. What makes you think explorer.exe is
missing or corrupt? Explorer.exe is not all that simple to delete. And it
is located in Windows not System32. Again I think you are confusing
system32.exe with Explorer.exe.

If you can, do a control, alt, delete.
End process on Explorer.exe then File/Run: Explorer.exe. If all goes well,
reboot after checking the path below.

Here, make sure Explorer.exe reads for Shell.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

As for Explorer.exe take it out of My Documents. Is best to stick to the
same thread, Jeremy.
