I am concerned that if I follow your instructions I will
lose all my previous records of satisfactory updates. It
is only the last 4 that I downloaded that need to be
reinstalled, post system restore. I only need to put
back 823980 821557 823559 and 817606. Is there a way to
do this without the system always telling me I need all
the other updates every time I visit the update site?

My original question
After critical update download and system restore to a
point prior to these critical updates, I cannot reinstall
the critical updates. After download and install I get a
message "unsuccessful try again". Retrying just results
in the same message.
