KEEPING updates for RE-INSTALL

Would anyone know of a way to save all of the updates
(service packs and patches) from an OS that has to be
blown away off of a particular partition to be reinstalled
afterwards.

I find it to be a real pain to go thru that WHOLE
process again and again (dial up) after I do a fresh
install.
I figured that there must be a shortcut in getting
this done one way or another. ANY guidance on this topic
would be much appreciated.
THANX N ADVANCE Wayne B.

Hi Joseph, I'm not familiar with the update catalog. Could
U throw some info my way and let me know what I need to do
on my end to get what I need? THANX AGAIN Wayne B.

I don't think that the update catalog is the easiest place to find what
you need. What you need is XP SP1a (if you are reinstalling XP RTM
(Gold)) and the SP1 Roll-up patch.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/servicepacks/sp1/sp1lang.asp
(note that SP1a is 134 MB)

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...00-D7BE-48E3-ABCC-961602BD72C2&displaylang=en
(note that rollup is 9.2 MB)

After you have reinstalled XP-RTM and installed these two uber-updates,
connect to Windows Update and pick up the remainder of post-SP1 updates
and enable Automatic Updates to stay up-to-date.

In future, Microsoft will continue to publish roll-ups to help users
catch up their major service pack releases. Note that when SP2 comes
out, you won't need SP1a or the SP1-rollup. You will replace these two
with SP2 and any SP2 roll-up that follows.
