Keeping up with this newsgroup

How does anyone manage to keep up here? The amount of posting is
pretty staggering...

Personally, I do not attempt to download all messages on the server.
This group will gather over 1000 messages daily which for me is too
time consuming to scan through.

Using a good newsreader program (Agent, Outlook Express) will help
since you can limit the amount of downloaded messages. When you come
across a message you wish to keep, you can save it for future
reference and information.

I scan down the new posts, and read the Subjects, and see which one's
grap my attention. Though I sure there are some morons, like Nicholass
that read every one.

True, but many of the posts are asking the same questions over and over. I
use OE's message rules to filter out the subjects (and posters) that I don't
want to see any more. It makes a big difference.

Likewise. I think I actually 'see' about half the messages that are
posted .. anything cross-posted to 3 groups, anything >600 lines,
anything with the wrong subject(*), or from the wrong people, goes
straight in the bit bucket.

Since the CDO interface can't (apparently) correctly display my
postings, I also toss all those out (occasionally I mess up, since I
can't do that on just the headers, automatically) since replying only
confuses people.

(*) There's quite a few things about which I can offer no help, and have
no interest in (video editing, twain, powerpoint, etc.), and some I'm
bored with hearing about (messenger, RPC, NT/Authority system, 32/64
bit). Nobody is obliged to read/consider everything posted .. not even
the MVPs.
