Keeping custom styles across computers

I have spent a LOT of time, setting up formatting styles as well as custom numbering and list styles. I have created a template and use that template whenever I need my documents to have those styles, which is almost always. There are many times that I need to open my documents at other computers to print or edit, but doing so will open the document using the styles as well as the numbering/listing formats as defined on those computers. Isn't there a way to embed the styles so that documents with my custom styles/numbering/lists will remain the way I want? Please help, styles in Word is absolutely frustrating. Once I think I have read up on resources on the problem and the fix/way around it, I come across another problem. Thanks!

Provided you don't have "Automatically update document styles" checked in
Tools | Templates and Add-ins, your styles should not change when the
document is opened on another computer. Numbering should also be stable
provided it's linked to styles. See
