Keeping a format number from a website?

Hi,
I am trying to copy and paste from a bookies website where the forma
of the odds are as a fraction (ie. 4/11).

When i paste into excel it converts it to a date (ie 04-Nov).

If i try to convert that date to a number it gives a result of 38295.

Any ideas how i can keep it at a fraction or as a decimal point ?

try formating the cell as 'Text' before you paste your value. And paste
your value with 'Edit - Paste Special'

To keep it as a number, you could type an equal sign at the start, e.g.

=4/11
