Keep programs running when users log on/off/on

I'm relatively new to XP, and i'm new to setting up XP with multiple users.
I recently upgraded from Win98 to XP. During the setup, I choose to have 4
users (actually XP set them up when it loaded when it asked me for user
names). None of the users require passwords and all have admin rights.

For shared programs such as antivirus software, it only starts when a user
logs on. So, if the user logs off and another one logs on, then the
antivirus software has to shutdown, then re-start with the next user. Is
there anyway to have software such as the antivirus software start
automatically before someone logs on, then doesn't shut itself down and
restart when someone else logs on?

Thanks!

Many antivirus programs, such as AVG ( www.grisoft.com ) already
do just that. The core program or programs run as services in
Windows. The only thing that shuts down and restarts is the
front-end, if it is running at all.

But generally, if this is your biggest problem, count yourself
lucky. (:-)

"... all have admin rights." His XP woes are only beginning. He will
soon become an expert in removing adware and trojans. :-)

and he probably only has AV but no firewall. A great fishing ground for the
phishers and scrums of the internet to make money off him.

Translation:
To avoid the trouble,
dedicate one account to have admin power which is used for administrative
purpose like windows update, program install) and all other be at most power
user if you have to, regular uses is the best for internet surfing, email,
chatting and Instant Messages for safety.

How?
1. go into start windows menu, control panel, accounts or user
accounts(sorry I am not all that familiar with xp home nor xp media)
select each user and change account type accordingly
2 get yourself a firewall package install that . if not turn on windows
firewall after installing sp2
just as soon you can
