Keep Getting Prompted for OS At Start-Up

When starting (but not rebooting, it seems), I'm getting the black screen
which asks me to "select the operating system to start". The choices are XP
or XP (recovery). The Knowledge Base references that I've found involve
people who've installed a new OS. That's not the case here. Otherwise, the
computer is running fine.

Recovery probably makes reference to the Recovery Console, which in the
boot.ini file is listed as an OS. It may have been installed without your
knowledge by a repair shop or prior to your purchase. You can delete the
recovery console or you can reduce the time to wait for selection and set
the XP as default so it makes the selection automatically and only waits a
few seconds in the selection menu... this can be done in the system settings
or in the Boot.ini file edition which is described in the "How to delete the
Recovery Console" article.
