I have tried several times to install this update and each time it says that the install is complete. But it doesn't show in the add and delete programs list in the control program. And everytime I go to Windows update it tells me that I need to install it. If it is being installed, it sure isn't being registered with Windows as having been installed. Anybody else having this problem and know how to fix it? I am running XP PRO.

Nick;
Are you looking in the correct place in Add/Remove Programs?

Hi Nick,

If KB828026 currently shows in the list of Add & Remove programs (Control
Panel), then uninstall it. Keep in mind that it will not show as a hotfix,
but rather as "Windows Media Player Hotfix". Otherwise, use spuninst.exe in
the \Windows\$NTUninstallq828026$\Spuninst folder the update created (you
may need to set folder options view to see hidden and system files for
this).

Then, download it from this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...5E-0C55-452E-A0FA-3AA165E667C1&displaylang=en

and install it rather than from the update site.

Hello
I appreciate the help, unfortunately it didn't work. I did find the hotfix update under windows media player and delete it. I also went into drive C into windows and take out the folder you mentioned with the notepad as well. But whether I go to the site or to windows update, I get the same result. It keeps wanting to load the same critical update from windows. I have never had this problem before with the update site. I did notice that on the notepad for that update it said something about the hotfix being disabled. Is it possible that a setting for windows upgrades has been changed and does somebody know where to find it on XP PRO?
