Chris Graham Bloomberg News Chicago

I'm apparently another of those more than unhappy with
your security operation, set up to supposedly help
Microsoft users.
Security Update WIndows XP (KB824146)
Download size 1.5 MB

I was able to download OK according to your system
response. Then everything stopped. 20 Minutes later I
came back to the computer to find NOTHING indicating any
Install Progress.
What gives, people. I will be calling in a more
official capacity Friday morning once I get into the
bureau.
Thank You,
Chris Graham.

Ever tried locating the update file on your hard drive and exec-
uting it manually?

It's not Microsoft's fault if you don't know how to use a computer

If you are using AOL as your ISP, you need to minimize your
AOL browser and launch Internet Explorer, then visit the Windows
Update web site while using Internet Explorer.

Try the following solution from the Windows Update Troubleshooter:
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/

Select:
"Problem Downloading/Installing a Software (Non-Driver) item"

Follow steps under:
"Install stops at 0% when using the AOL Browser"

While using the Internet Explorer browser, try downloading
the updates again: http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

P.S. Make sure to disable your antivirus program and close any
open programs before installing updates.

Other people are having the same problem with kb824146 as
well as it causing internet, monitor and restart
problems. My help for kb824146 is don't load it or if you
have, do a system restore to the day/time before loading
it.
