JVC Digital Video Camera & Movie Maker

I'm trying to capture some footage from my DV camera (JVC GR-DX-25EK) to my computer(P4 2.66GHZ, XP Pro) using MM (using the supplied USB cable). When I select 'Capture From Video Device' it starts OK and shows my camera, which I highlight, then I get an error saying 'An interface has too many methods to fire events from' Now I'm stuck. Would firewire cable and card could really solve my problem? Please help me...
 
Yes, firewire is the way to go. The USB connection is for still pix and low
quality video that needs a special codec.
