Windows 98 and XP are operating systems. Office 97 and XP
are office suites. They are sold separately. Note that
Office 97 (with SP-2 for office) will work under XP.
MSworks is a scaled down version of office, also sold
separately from the operating system.
Easy CD Creator, Nero, all Norton/Symantec products, all
MacAfee products, and other near-system level software
should have been uninstalled before upgrading to XP.
Given where you are, go to the Roxio website and obain the
proper procedure for manually uninstalling Easy CD
Creator. It is fairly long. (I know, I made the same
mistake. And, yes I ran the Upgrade Advisor, but did not
fully understand what it was hinting at.)
While you are at it, also uninstall the other products i
menioned, getting advice from their makers on how to do
that manually, if necessary.
Then, get Easy CD Creator 5 or 6. if 5, pre-download
patches up to 5.3.5 or so. If 5, get Roxio advice on
exactly how to intall form CDROM and how to patch. At one
time it was required to NOT reboot between the install and
the patch, even though a popup said to do it. If 6, you
can install directly, then update later to 6.0.3.4 or so.
There is no pach for Easy CD 4 or lower to work on XP.
As for Norton, you need at least version 2002, with 2003
recommended.
For MacAfee and Nero, see their websites, support areas.
For MSworks, try a re-install. Or try Open Office,
