Ok, so i just updated........and DIDNT have Microsoft
Office.....if i had, would it have updated to XP Windows
Office?????? Now my Microsoft Works wont
open...........and neither will my ADAPTEC EASY CD
CREATOR.
Someone please help, cuz its a serious pain in the ass.
Thanx

Windows does not contain any office products(never has), so no xp doesn't
update your office. You have to buy office xp to upgrade.
Try to reinstall MS word.
Easy cd creator version 5 with all the patches and above are the only
versions that work with xp. If you have a version before 5, you have to
upgrade to 5. If you have 5 get all the patches from their website --
www.roxio.com

I know about MS Works but I know that there is a PITA way to get Easy CD
creator to work depending on the version. Their website should have the
directions.

If you have v4 of EZCD Creator, you will need to uninstall it, if you
can, reinstall it and before rebooting, install the 4.05 patch, then
reboot. You can't use the INCD or whatever they call their packet
writing software that lets you use the CD like a floppy. I believe
version 5 also has some strange patch you must install before
rebooting...

Don't you like the MS/Roxio integration into XP....LOL

Did you do a clean install or an upgrade? You may have
wiped your applications. Get your application CDs out and
reinstall WORKS and OFFICE and buy a current version of your
Easy CD Creator from Roxio, Adaptec is version 3 or 4 and
you need the version 5.3.5 version from Roxio (or later).

Windows 98 and XP are operating systems. Office 97 and XP
are office suites. They are sold separately. Note that
Office 97 (with SP-2 for office) will work under XP.
MSworks is a scaled down version of office, also sold
separately from the operating system.

Easy CD Creator, Nero, all Norton/Symantec products, all
MacAfee products, and other near-system level software
should have been uninstalled before upgrading to XP.

Given where you are, go to the Roxio website and obain the
proper procedure for manually uninstalling Easy CD
Creator. It is fairly long. (I know, I made the same
mistake. And, yes I ran the Upgrade Advisor, but did not
fully understand what it was hinting at.)

While you are at it, also uninstall the other products i
menioned, getting advice from their makers on how to do
that manually, if necessary.

Then, get Easy CD Creator 5 or 6. if 5, pre-download
patches up to 5.3.5 or so. If 5, get Roxio advice on
exactly how to intall form CDROM and how to patch. At one
time it was required to NOT reboot between the install and
the patch, even though a popup said to do it. If 6, you
can install directly, then update later to 6.0.3.4 or so.

There is no pach for Easy CD 4 or lower to work on XP.

As for Norton, you need at least version 2002, with 2003
recommended.

For MacAfee and Nero, see their websites, support areas.

For MSworks, try a re-install. Or try Open Office,
available free at:
