just opened up my hard drive

hi there, i just opened ip m hard drive and took off the top disk, its so nice and shiny, and reflect the sun very well, but its so light and feels so solid, even though it is damaged by anything and everything, and it does not react like a material i have ever seen before, does anyone know what the individual disks are made of?

did u know that you have just voided your warranty?

I opened up a hard drive today aswell...

The only differance is that my aim was to destroy all data (It used to belong to a dentist paitent confdentuality....)

I Was wandering what it was made of aswell, try as hard as i could, i could not smash the disks, only dent them!!!

Therm....traditionally platters are made of a light alluminum alloy

i remember reading an article in PCF some time back, it stated that its not as easy as one thinks to completly get rid of ALLcontents on a hardrive..........

I once read that the best way to destroy data was to burn the hard drive once you had taken it to bits. Think you would need a very large fire though

but it was £1 off a mate at school, a gid so i could play with it and practise modding it, yes and it does seem like aluminium and stuff, very light, very strong stuff inside, voids warranty lol, never used again dont you mean!
