i just installed windows XP on my computer. before i installed it a
deleted my partition and reinstalled it. when it finally booted up,
the screen looked all disfigured, and the colors were all off. in
addition, i cannot add a new internet connection to hook up my DSL. im
guessing i have to reinstall all my drivers since i deleted everything
but not sure how to go about doing it. i dont have any of the cds that
came with the computer. if i download them off the net how do i know
which drivers are the correct ones to get?

please help,
gabriel

Yes a clean install of XP requires device drivers to be installed for the
hardware. Most should have the facility for you to enter the system serial
number and it will show all the drivers.

Go the the computer vendor's tech support site if the hardware is OEM or to
the device manufacturer's web site if it's a retail device.

Go to the computer manufacturer's site, click Support, enter your model
number, and download the needed drivers. Use a flash/thumb drive to
move the files to the computer in question.

All of the necessary WinXP-specific drivers should be available on the
computer's manufacturer's web site.
