Well it depends how you define slow. Will it be slower than on a real
machine? Yes. Will it be slower than XP? Yes. Will it be slower than
RC2? Yes.

Yes!

Are you using Virtual PC 2004? If so, then yes this is normal. VPC 2004 is
not optimized for Vista. After you get Vista installed (I've heard install
times anywhere from 3 hours to over 12 hours for Beta 2 in VPC 2004) adding
the VPC additions will help some. If you use the additions that are
included with the latest version of Virtual Server, available for download
from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserversystem/virtualserver/software/default.mspx,
that will perform a little better. You might also consider using Virtual
Server for your virtualization technology over Virtual PC.

Even better yet is to go to https://connect.microsoft.com and see if you can
get into the Virtual PC 2007 beta as that is your best MS virtual platform
for running Vista for the typical home user.

But again, beta 2 is missing many optimizations so don't expect a dramatic
increase in performance, but it will be better than what you are currently
experiencing.

Yes. I found that running beta versions of Vista under VPC was so slow as to
be unusable.

One other issue that i found was that it took 8GB of space is this how big
vista is going to be?

About that. It is recommended you not install it on any partition smaller
than 20 GB.
