when posting problems with your system, brief details of the hardware, the OS

solution

Agreed. But those who do not currently know to do this, are equally unlikely
to see this post and heed your advice.

Unlike a mechanic troubleshooting a broke car in person, this newsgroup has
no idea what the make/model, motor (OS and version), and problem symptoms
are unless provided by the user. That's where the crux lies but many
posters fail to see before posting. Many times, this information has to
milked from the OP by numerous respondents. And many times, no reply comes
from the OP regarding these questions in a quest to help. Then, its
multiple guess responses, with one guess that may help. Misleading to
readers who don't understand what's going on.
