Just a installation question

Hi group,
I have two original copies of windows XP, however one comes as part of a
package that installs everything, OS + Programs, i only wish to install the
OS, so, my qustion is, is it ok to use the serial number the package on the
other installation cd?

If they are the same versions of XP eg XP Home OEM, then it should work
fine, but you will have to 'activate' it (to get it working for more than 30
days), which you probably didn't need to do with the version with the
programs.

No, it requires more than that they match with respect to Home vs.
Professional. They also have to match with respect to Retail vs. OEM, and
Full vs. Upgrade.

However it doesn't hurt to have pointed out the full requirement for others
who may be reading the thread.

Yes, very true. In retrospect I probably should have more expansive.

It might work but then again it might not. The copy that installs programs
with it is a vendor OEM version and will only work with a key for the same
type. What exactly are the two versions? If you give that info, you could
get better advice.
