I just had my computer at Pit Stop and found I have
62994MB of junk files. How in the name of heaven do I get
rid of them. I can't even find them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Yma.

Who or what is Pit Stop? How do you know those files are "junk"? I'm not
saying they are not junk, but I'd like to know why you - or Pit Stop -
think that they are junk. If Pit Stop is a computer repair shop, why did
they not get rid of the "junk" for you?

The "how in the name of heaven" depends on what kinds of files they are -
and you've given us no clue about that. If you "can't even find them", it
will be hard for us to help you get rid of them.

Of course, you could get rid of them by reformatting your hard drive and
starting over, but that's drastic and would get rid of all your files,
including those that are not junk. :>(

We'll be glad to help you as soon as you give us enough information so that
we can help. Until then, we're just shooting in the dark.

My problem is similar to D Palmers. Suddenly I got a
message, when I was trying to defrag, that I only had 1%
free space. There is no way I could have used all my
space. I have had this computer about 1 year. I have
74.4GB used space and 734MB free space. I am possitive I
could not have used up that much space.
I have used checkDisk, but am unable to defrag.

Pit Stop is an internet checking system for your computer.
This was the message I got after the system check.
"TIP > Clean Up Disk Space
Drive C has 62994MB of junk files, which is 83 percent of
all the space available on the drive.

About Disk Space and Junk Files
Junk files come from several sources. One is the Recycle
Bin. Files are not actually removed from the drive when
you delete them using Explorer. Instead, the files are
moved to the Recycle Bin where you can retrieve them if
you later decide that you should not have deleted them.
However, the files in the Recycle Bin can use up a lot of
space, and can contribute to disk fragmentation problems.
Empty your Recycle Bin to reclaim this disk space."
Sure could use some help with this one.
