Junk e-mail notification, but empty folder

When I get a notification that I received a
message that has been moved to the Junk e-mail folderI
choose the option to open the Junk e-mail folder to see
what messages the filter caught. When I open the Junk E-
mail folder it is empty.

I know there is an option to permanently delete suspected
junk e-mail and I do NOT have that option checked.

Please help.

this looks like a similar problem I have and described below. I have rules
that move incoming emails into folders based on accounts. Without those
rules I get junk email in the junk email folder. With the rules enabled the
junk mail seems to go temporarily into the junk email folder but is then
moved out to a folder based on the rule setting. I get the same message and
my junk folder is empty. I haven't received any help yet.
